Man falls in a ditch dies instantly

‎Residents of Omukabumba Rukiri one Akatojo ward Rubaare town council were today morning left in shock after an adult man identified as Salongo Byamugisha in his 30s fallen in a ditch of  32 feets which he has been preparing to erect there a borehole.

‎‎According to multiple eyewitness accounts, Mr Julius Kubiriba a.k.a Oweminyara while speaking to our reporter over the incident says that the deceased have been residing in Rukiri Kemyenda for few weeks and was hired from Kabuyanda to dig a ditch to erect a borehole.

‎‎Mr Kubiriba accounts that the deceased woke up in the morning today as usual to attend his work in Omukabumba to remove water in the ditch of 32 feets but unfortunately as he was stepping on the ladder to go deep down the ditch to extract water from it, he slides on the ladder hit his head down first and submerged by the water and died from there instantly.

‎‎He added that Mr Boaz Kabongoya who was a co-worker to the deceased was around by the time of incident and alerted him and other residents who rushed to the scene but the efforts to rescue the deceased was all in vain since the ditch was too deep they couldn't manage to get him out. Therefore it prompted them to call police to retrieved the body.

‎‎The rescue team from Ntungamo Central Police station was notified and swiftly responded to clear the scene. The scene was documented statements recorded from witnesses and the body was retrieved and taken to Itojo mortuary for autopsy.
