Acholi Music Industry Gets Major Boost as GAMA Secures UGX 110 Million Funding.

news

The Greater Acholi Musicians Association (GAMA) has received a significant financial injection of UGX 110 million from the Uganda National Musicians Federation, marking a major milestone for the growth of Northern Uganda’s creative sector.

The funds were officially handed over by federation president Eddy Kenzo, accompanied by vice president Sheebah Karungi, during an empowerment drive targeting organized musician groups across the country.

According to GAMA leadership, the financial support is intended to strengthen the economic stability of musicians in the Acholi sub-region. The initiative focuses on promoting financial discipline, encouraging savings culture, and providing opportunities that can help artists grow professionally.

Leaders within the association described the funding as a timely intervention that will enable creatives to move toward structured development and long-term sustainability.

Meanwhile Officials from the national federation revealed that the funding forms part of a broader strategy to support music associations nationwide. The program seeks to build stronger institutions within the entertainment industry while creating opportunities for artists at grassroots level.

And observers believe the financial boost could significantly improve the working conditions of artists in Northern Uganda by increasing access to resources, strengthening collaboration, and supporting talent development.

With organized support structures gaining momentum, stakeholders say the region’s music industry is poised for greater visibility and economic growth.
