Kasid Puma (Onencan Ivan) , a rising star born on 3rd/2/2000 from Kitgum District is making waves with his unique blend of Afrobeat, dancehall, and traditional Acholi rhythms in Uganda music industry. His latest release, “Laqlinture,” Earlier this month has captivated audiences with its infectious beats and compelling storytelling, further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in Northern music industry.
Born and raised in Northern Uganda, Kasid Puma’s passion for music was evident from a young age. Growing up in a region rich in cultural heritage, he was influenced by traditional Acholi music, which laid the foundation for his artistic expression. His early exposure to local rhythms and melodies inspired him to pursue a career in music, aiming to fuse traditional sounds with contemporary genres.
Kasid Puma began his musical journey way back as a young boy from his village organizing his fellows young one’s at their home ground where he used to sing them wonderful songs before he started to perform at local events and community gatherings, gradually building a loyal fan base. His dedication and talent caught the attention of music producers and industry professionals, leading to collaborations and opportunities to record his music professionally.
Kasid Puma’s breakthrough came with the release of his hit song title “Matako,” whereby he collaborated with zetive and Lil Nicha which showcased his ability to blend traditional Acholi rhythms with modern Afrobeat and dancehall influences. The song’s success propelled him into the spotlight, earning him recognition beyond his local community.

He released “Laqlinture” Earlier this month and quickly it become one of Kasid Puma’s most popular songs. The track combines traditional Acholi instruments with contemporary production, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and modern. The song’s lyrics delve into themes of love, resilience, and cultural pride, striking a chord with listeners a fans in Northern uganda.
Kasid Puma’s was later interviewed by Hustler Deo in his YouTube channel on why he released “Laqluinture”, Kashid Puma responded “I was a Theif before becoming a music Celebrity” and laqluinture simply means a Theif. He continued and said some years back after he dropped out from school he started living in streets whereby he collects bottles for survival and at a times he also steals Properties and sell them so as to gets his basic needs and during night he used to sleep at corridor on box. “So Laqluinture was all what i passed through before I reached this level”
Looking ahead, Kasid Puma plans to release more music, but he assured Northern music industry that he will never leave abusive lyrics songs because that’ s what makes him to rose up and now he’s amoungst top Northern celebrities.
